In the world of high-pressure plunger pumps, we often talk about "lifecycles"— how long a machine can run at peak performance before it needs maintenance or replacement. But in life, there are certain assets that, if maintained with discipline, only appreciate in value over time.

For me, that asset is abhishah.com

Today, owning a "FirstnameLastname.com" domain — especially for a name as common as "Abhi Shah" in Gujarat, India—is a statistical improbability. If you tried to buy this domain today, you would likely face a premium price tag or find it permanently parked.

Yet, I own it. Not because of my own foresight, but because of a strategic decision made 18 years ago by my father.

The Vision of 2008

Let’s rewind to March 2008. The internet was a different place. Personal branding wasn’t a buzzword; it was an anomaly.

At that time, my father was focused on securing digital real estate for our organization, PressureJet Systems, Most entrepreneurs would have stopped there. But my father has always operated with a multi-generational mindset.

Out of love, and perhaps a visionary intuition that the digital world would one day be our primary address, he bought two additional domains: abhishah.com for me, and ritishah.com for my sister.

He didn't just buy them; he maintained them. For nearly two decades, he invested in the renewals, quietly holding onto this digital territory while I was busy growing up, studying, and eventually joining the family business to lead our digital transformation.

Compounding Value

We often think of parental gifts in terms of material objects—cars, watches, or capital. But this domain name is different. It is identity.

By securing this domain, he ensured that in 2026, when I am ready to share my philosophy of "Reflecting, Learning, Living", I have a home for it. He removed the friction of me having to fight for my own name in the digital space.

It reminds me of the discipline required in business. Just as we focus on building an enduring enterprise at PressureJet, my father treated our names as enduring brands. He understood that a small investment (the cost of a domain), repeated with discipline (annual renewals), yields a massive strategic advantage decades later.

The Best Gift for Abhi Shah

I have undergone extensive self-evaluation to optimize my leadership, and I realized that my father’s actions back then perfectly mirror the values I hold dear today: Structure, Control, and Foresight.

To have a father who thinks decades ahead is a privilege. To have a father who secures your identity before you even know its value is a blessing.

I am profoundly grateful to him for this gift. It is more than a URL; it is a lesson in vision.

The "So What?"

My father didn't know exactly what abhishah.com would become in 2026, but he knew it would matter.

My question to you is this: What is the 2026 equivalent of buying a domain name in 2008? What small, low-cost investment can you make today—for your business or your children—that will seem like a stroke of genius 18 years from now?

Stop planning for the next quarter. Start planning for the next generation.
